LAST TIME OUT

Kent Spitfires beat Surrey by 87 runs at The Kia Oval, in their previous outing.

Having won the toss and elected to bat, skipper Leaning top-scored with 87 from 94 balls in Kent’s 50-over total of 330 for six. Alex Blake, hitting 62 from only 50 balls, and Daniel Bell-Drummond, who scored 65, were other Spitfires’ batting heroes. Jordan Clark (2/54), Cam Steel (1/51), Dan Moriarty (1/45), Matt Dunn (1/53), and Conor McKerr (1/80) were among the wickets for Surrey.

Ryan Patel, with 68, and Jordan Clark – seventh out for 55 off 48 balls  – led Surrey’s response and threatened to break Kent’s hold on the game. But the visitors kept chipping away to limit the Three Feathers to 243 all out, with leg spinner Matt Parkinson impressing as he took 4 for 43.

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE OUTLAWS

Having won two games, lost one, and had their fourth fixture abandoned, Nottinghamshire Outlaws sit in the top half of the table with five points.

The Outlaws were handed their first defeat of the campaign in their latest fixture by 91 runs, which was against Hampshire, at John Fretwell Sporting Complex in Welbeck.

Powered by captain Nick Gubbins’ excellent 119 off 123, Hampshire invited the Outlaws to chase a target of 255. Dane Paterson’s 4/41 were the standout figures for the hosts.

Nottinghamshire crumbled to 163 all out in reply, with Matthew Montgomery’s 42 off 45 being the top score for the Outlaws. Mason Crane’s 3/38 were the best bowling figures for the winning side.

Lyndon James, with a tally of 118 runs at 39.33, is leading the batting charts for his side, while Paterson’s collection of nine wickets from three games, at an average of 13.55, is the highest for Outlaws.
