Surrey will return to Guildford to play their final Metro Bank One Day Cup home game of the season, going against Hampshire on Sunday.

SURREY

Surrey name an 11-player squad for the visit of Hampshire, with injuries ravaging the staff as well as the loss of several players to The Hundred.

Tom Lawes is back with the Oval Invincibles for their games today and on Monday. He is replaced by Tommy Ealham, who has been registered to play for Surrey.

Matt Dunn (hamstring), Jordan Clark (hamstring), Ben Foakes (ankle), and Yousef Majid (hamstring) remain unavailable for this fixture.

LAST TIME OUT

It was a disappointing and frustrating outing for the Three Feathers as they succumbed to a 10-wicket loss against Lancashire in the first of two games at Guildford.

Asked to bat first by Keaton Jennings, Surrey could only manage a total of 153 all out, with Josh Blake’s 34 being the top score for the hosts. Will Williams was impeccable with the new ball, returning 4/30 from his opening burst of seven overs. Thomas Aspinwall and George Balderson also claimed two wickets each.

In the second innings, Surrey failed to execute their bowling plans as openers George Bell and Jennings batted nicely and struck 78 not out and 76 not out respectively, leading the Red Rose to a comfortable victory in front of a 2000-strong home crowd.

HAMPSHIRE

Hampshire are enjoying a strong Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign, having won five out of their six games and sitting second in the table, tied on 10 points with leaders Leicestershire Foxes.

In their previous game, Hampshire impressively defeated Yorkshire Vikings by 177 runs. Invited to bat first, Tom Prest’s 105 and Joseph Eckland’s 72 powered the visitors to 311/6 before Ian Holland (3/12) and Eddie Jack (3/31) did the damage in the second innings, reducing the Vikings to 134 all out.

Skipper Nick Gubbins, who’s the fourth-leading run-scorer in the competition with 360 runs at an excellent average of 60, has been in great nick, just like his opening partner Fletcha Middleton who is also averaging in excess of 45. Holland (9) and Scott Currie (8) have claimed the most wickets for Hampshire.
