U18 batter Alfie Haxton has scored a mammoth 263 – the highest score made by a batter in a Surrey Men’s Pathway match
Surrey are playing Yorkshire in an U18 three-day match at Guildford. Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bat. Guildford – which is renowned as a quick-scoring ground, lived up to its expectation as Yorkshire were bowled out for 325 in 66.4 overs. Surrey bowlers Marlie Simpson and Arush Wavhal took three wickets apiece.
Surrey opener Alfie Haxton batted throughout the innings and was the last wicket to fall as he scored 263 from 305 deliveries as the Three Feathers responded with 540. Haxton’s innings is the highest individual score by a batter in a Surrey Pathway match. He put on 141 for the second wicket with Nathan Farmer, plus a stand of 143 for the fourth wicket with Rowan Kennedy. Haxton plays his club cricket Banstead in the M Zaidi & Co Surrey Cricket Championship.
The match with Yorkshire looks destined for a draw on the third and final day at Guildford.
