A review of everything that happened during Surrey Women’s Vitality T20 meeting with Middlesex at Old Whitgiftians Cricket Club on Sunday.
Hannah Jones’ side were looking to round off the Vitality ECB T20 competition with a pair of victories following a mixed campaign to date.
MATCH ONE – Surrey win by eight wickets
After Middlesex made 76/4 from the first 15 overs, the rain set in and the players had to go off. A lengthy delay followed and when they were able to get back out, Surrey needed 33 from 5 overs.
Alice Capsey made 17 from 11 deliveries before Aylish Cranstone (7) and Kirstie White (11) completed the job.
MATCH TWO – Match abandoned
Middlesex again batted first and again it was interrupted by rain, with the players forced off after 10.2 overs with the visitors on 65/4. Persistent rain from then on ensured no further play and the sides took a point each.
WHAT IT MEANS
Surrey end the competition in second place with 17 points from eight matches. Champions Kent took 26 from their fixtures, including six victories.
The regional level of the game will now begin, with South East Stars beginning their Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy campaign on 29th May.
Surrey Women are in action three times in June and twice in July with the 50 over London Championship and the T20 London Cup still to come.
