Surrey will travel to Chelmsford to play their final Metro Bank One Day Cup game of the season, going up against Essex on Tuesday.

SURREY

Surrey name 11 players for the trip to the Cloud County Ground, with injuries depleting the squad as well as the loss of 12 active players to The Hundred.

Matt Dunn (hamstring), Jordan Clark (hamstring), Ben Foakes (ankle), and Yousef Majid (hamstring) remain unavailable for this fixture. Nathan Barnwell and James Taylor were ruled out of the competition with stress fractures before the start.

LAST TIME OUT

Surrey fell to defeat as high-flying Hampshire secured victory by eight wickets. Having lost the toss, the Hawks asked Surrey to have a bat. Ryan Patel (78) provided the mainstay of the Surrey innings but wickets fell around him regularly and Surrey posted 203 – having been bowled out in 45 overs.

Hampshire’s openers put on an excellent opening partnership of 163 before Dan Moriarty picked up the wickets of Middleton and Weatherley – but only after the latter had reached three figures. The visitors knocked the runs off with eight wickets 21.4 overs remaining.

ESSEX

Essex have also endured a difficult One Day Cup competition and are joint bottom of the group alongside Surrey and Middlesex. Another side severely impacted by the Hundred, Essex’s only victory came at Chelmsford when they beat Middlesex by three runs in a tight fixture.

18 year-old Charlie Allison is their leading run-scorer in the competition with 250 runs scored at an average of 41.6. Overseas bowler Beau Webster and Aaron Webster top their bowling charts with 12 wickets apiece.
